Not looking good guys...I've been here since 6:30. Checking every place I can possibly think of. That storm got pretty crazy last night. Don't know if he went for cover or if our over populated resident coyotes pushed him. I've checked every low spot on the property and walked the river. Now checking all the thick stuff. Problem is this whole property is thick with under growth and blow downs.(why it holds good deer)....that storm sure screwed me. Not giving up yet but like I said, not looking good. Sorry guys....haven't lost a deer in several years, pretty heart breaking....

He's not lost yet dpr! As long as your still looking, there is hope. I wouldn't imagine he would be far unless like you said, the yotes pushed him. I'm really not sure where a deer could go for cover in a heavy rain that would be any different than cover from predators. Unless you have a pine thicket or something that would provide cover from the sky?!? Just a thought

I've found what helps me is to think small when trying to find a deer you have no blood trail for. Instead of trying to think of every possible spot on the property he might go, break it down into 100 yard or even 50 yard increments. Search those until you're thoroughly convinced he's not in there and move out to the next one. It can be pretty easy to walk right by a deer if you are busy thinking about the thicket up ahead instead of the turf right in front of you. Keep after it man! You'll find him.

Thanks for the support guys......I searched and searched and searched some more but no deer. I'm really confused as to where he went. Hopefully I'll run across him at some point. Just makes me sick....Sorry I couldn't come through...but I'll be back at it this weekend. Hoping I can redeem myself soon!

Happens man. You gave it a good effort and that's all you can do. Who knows, maybe he'll show up on trail cam. Deer are tough!

That's all you can do dpr! Stuff happens that's out of our control. Keep your chin held high, you gave it a good effort to recover. All you can do now is smoke the next one and get that good mojo back! Maybe even get to lay eyes on him again someday. Good luck brother i will be on the stand in 45 min

Nice ambush spot just on the fringe of a thick bedding area. Maybe too close! Corn just came down 3 days ago and trails coming out of the bedding and up the creek bank beside me are hammered down to the mud. Some real big tracks on them too. Time for me and the hoyt to get to work
