Go get him hogster! A few of us get an upgrade and maybe Missouri knocks down tall can, we should be in good shape! We definitely need more than a 60 point gap if we're gonna win this thing!

This cold snap sure has the deer up feeding. They were all over the fields on my way home tonight. Find the food they should be there.

No deer were harmed today. Only thing hurt was my ego and my butt from the kicking g it got. Man is it cold. Hope you all had better luck than me. I may go tomorrow afternoon after church.

Went out to the new property we have this year and nothing . All the fields are bean stuble so nothing out feeding but with the snow we have on the ground helps highlights all the trails and will payoff in the future I hope.

I blew my shot at an upgrade on Saturday. Had a solid 160" buck come in on a string mid day. Had him wide open at 20 yds and I freakin blew it. Hit him high, above the spine. I've never blown such an easy shot in my life. 999 out of 1000 that is a dead deer. I never got comfortable with my anchor, for some reason I semi panicked and squeezed the shot off. Ended up floating it high. bucks like that are not very common around here. I'm still down in the dumps about it. I'm 100% confident the buck is just fine which is good, obviously. He ran a short way, stopped and stood there for a while then just walked off.
I found a new spot speed scouting after the morning hunt back in a very remote area. That's where I hit him. There is about 1 full acre of hardwoods that is 85% surrounded by shallow swamp and frags. Only way in was through a long strip of new growth saplings. I almost gave up on the spot but started seeing lots of rubs on saplings and heavy trails about 3/4 mile back in. All the sudden it just opened up to a small slice of deer heaven. I don't think anyone has ever hunted it before. Looks like nothing really from a distance. I'm sure that area is that bucks home. So I plan to make another date with him this weekend. Just hope I didn't blow him out of there.
