I use one, I think it makes the nock point easier to find and more precise. I do know several guys that just put the bow in a vice and nock an arrow and eyeball it until they think it's perpendicular to the string then set the nock point above the arrow. I'm not comfortable with that, If you can use a tool to set it correctly, I see no point in eyeballing and guessing at it. For me definitely necessary.

Thanks boggs, I don't know if we are talking about the same thing though. I'm talking about the the tools that sand/grind the ends of you arrow shafts, essentially cleaning up where the cut off saw cuts. I know G5 makes one and Burt Coyote does too. The reason I ask is I shot 3D for a lot of years, never used one. I have been hunting for 25 plus years, never used one. Saw a Youtube video on one the other day, makes sense and now I think I need one! Haha

Definately misunderstood your question.., lol. I was just rambling about what everyone already knows. As for the shaft squaring tool, I've never used one but anything that can help arrow flight is a plus.

I have used the G5 one for at least 5 years now - I like squaring both ends of the arrow shaft and even the insert once glued in.......It may be overkill but works for me

Awesome jwg, thanks for the input! I will probably end up with one as well.
