Thanks again guys! And sorry, in all my excitement yesterday I forgot to ask how everyone else is doing here over the weekend? I'm back out, solo again and getting back to the swamps. Good bucks around here don't seem to like crops, they like this marshy crap. I'm nestled into a double gum tree with good cover between a loaded persimmon tree and falling pin oaks surrounded by swamp. The wind is right and the bow is loaded so here we go!

Congrats Brushdog. Sw wind this weekend is not very good for me. Saw couple does, only one in my range, saw very nice buck 180 yards away from my other tree stand. I just got to tree stand by a pond and waiting for deer come out on last hour.

This is a glimpse of the type of terrain and area I'm hunting. Have 2,300 acres of timber land leased up so its mostly clear cuts, thickets and mature pine stands with a couple oak ridges. All the deer I saw the other night came from the thicket behind the little bowl in the corner of the one clear cut so I'll be hanging a stand in those mature pines on the left somewhere. Hopefully get that all up on Tuesday and I'll take some pics of my different setups as I check cards.

Thank you Sir. I like it. Makes for some challenging hunting because the wind swirls pretty much none stop unless you are on the very top of the ridges. Hard to grow high scoring bucks here but I still love trying. A 130 to me in this area is what most of you would consider a 160 in y'all's but I certainly won't complain! Perhaps one day I'll get to experience some Midwest hunting. I know I'd love it!!

Country looks great Canuck!! Is that an elevated blind you took the pics out of? Like a gun stand? Looks like a bad ass set up Thanks LH11. I was still smiling all day today Only saw one lone doe this evening. Kinda odd for this area but that was it. She closed into 40 yds but never gave me a real clear shot. Going to hit up the other side of the swamp tomorrow, should be good for the SW wind were supposed to have.

Yes Sir. I bought it last year for $200 off a guy that was giving up hunting. I haven't tried to shoot a bow from it but I think I could. I like to take kids gun hunting and I use to film my ex wife and Dad gun hunt so I thought it was a good addition. Attachments:

Yup I've had it for 5 years now. They've done a bunch of cutting on it the last 2 years. The mature stands of timber are becoming far and few between now but there are still a bunch along creeks and drainage ditches which are areas I like to hunt anyhow so I still have plenty of spots to hang stands.

Thanks hogster! It's certainly a doe hunt I will never forget! Had no service on my phone where I was hunting yesterday. I made it to the other side of the swamp though. High tide worked it's way in and made it a b*tch to get there but I made it through the frags. Had a few doe come in but no way I was shooting a doe back there. About an hour before dark I had another 115-120" buck come into my tree and 5 seconds later I saw a good 135-140" buck 50 yds out but he never gave me a shot and never came closer. Just skirted the opposite side of the frags where I was sitting. Of course, 5 deer come in, and the 4 I won't shoot come close and the one I wanted would not! I know his home now so I will be back after him this fri/sun. I snapped a few pics of the spot.

Hung the stand I had talked about today. I think something is going to die down in that spot soon! Attachments:
