So this evening I'm washing up clothes for hunting Saturday and my old trusty hoodie is looking pretty rough. I'm not really sure when I got it but I know I wore it to shoot my first good buck, 180" 16pt in 1994. I was wearing it again in 2011 when I killed my best buck, 197" 16pt and I was wearing it in 2015 when I killed pb. I pretty much have worn it on most of my early season hunts since I got it all those years ago. I know I can kill without it but I have always felt like good things were going to happen when I had it on, they obviously didn't "always" happen since I can only kill one buck a year and I certainly hunt more than one day a season but it was always a conscious thought when I pulled it on. As I contemplate retiring the old hoodie I'm not overly concerned for two reasons. 1. The coat I wore when I shot probably every other buck I've killed in the past 25yrs is still in pretty good shape and I have a new hoodie that my son bought for me last spring because my old one was so ragged. Yeah, I'm going to be OK

I always wear a hat when I shoot or hunt. It never really mattered what hat, just as long as I had one. One morning I got up and drove out to the property I had permission to hunt and as I was getting ready to head for the deerstand I realized I didn't have a hat in the truck. I walked into my stand and climbed up but after 30 minutes of sitting I felt so out of place without my hat that I climbed down and headed home to get one.
I had originally planned to hunt until 10 that morning but because of my hat issues and not getting back on stand until nearly 9, I decided to hunt til noon. At 11:42 I arrowed what at the time was my best buck to date. I now wear that old team realtree hat every single time I go out.

Nothing weird about that. Most folks would call us weird for having such great anticipation to sit in a tree for hours at a time each fall.

It's not weird at all. I've got a "lucky" hat that has been with me on every good deer I've ever killed. It looks like crap but I can't get rid of it lol

I had this hat made for Bow hunters. It had a really short bill on it that didn't interfere with you drawing your bow. I have worn it every season for 15 years and every buck I have killed. Well I can't find it this year and I'm going nuts trying to find another like it to no avail. My season has been horrible so far and it gotta be that damn hat.
