Well I have been a pure rage guy for a bunch of years, by a freak set of circumstances when I shot my buck last night I ended up shooting him with a 100 grain montec head. I can tell you I will never let that happen again! I had near perfect arrow placement on quartering away at 30 yards, complete pass through. It has been years since I had to "look" for blood after shooting a deer. He only went about 80 yards or less but I'm glad he traveled through some easy ground to trail on since the blood was so sparse. Arrow entered right side third rib from back and exited through the off side leg. Entrance Exit Entrance and exit up close Rage for life baby! Short version Ben

Same with me and my wife and brother we were all using them a few years back and we all have killed deer with them but non of us had very good bloodtrails. Not sure why but we all stopped using them for this reason..

We shot some magnus heads for a while and when my gf hunted she used them. The killed good but blood trails were not very good at all. I'm just glad all the shot placement was near perfect, I can't imagine having a long trail with those little heads.

I'm still shooting the Ulmer Edge heads. My favorite broadhead, and I've shot a ton of different heads. I hate that BPS bullied them out of production (or at least that was my understanding as to why they are no longer available). I've still got 3 packs left so they'll stay in my quiver til the last one gets wore out. I've got the spitfire maxx heads for the crossbow when my Dad or fiancé use it. Once I'm out of my current heads I'll be switching to those for the compound.

2 blade rage extreme is bad news for a deer So I'm adding some more pics to this post. That buck was quartering on when I shot him and there was 15" of arrow broke off inside his body when I gutted him out. Saved the shoulder blade and cooked it off today when I did the skull cap. This is the broad head I shot and the bone Rib it went through after going through the shoulder blade and where it stopped on the other side

I’m not a rage fan but that’s pretty impressive to blow thru a mature bucks shoulder like that. 👍🏻

I’m not a rage fan but that’s pretty impressive to blow thru a mature bucks shoulder like that. 👍🏻 Me and my son have been rage exclusive (except for my mistake last year) since 2007. Between the original 2 and 3 blade heads I preferred the 2 blade, bigger wound =more blood. The hypodermic looked awesome but we each had them break a blade off, I feel like the blade angle is just too steep. We've been shooting these extremes for the past three years and are very happy with them. To be honest I had had concerns over how they would perform in a situation like this and now I know. My goal is pure ribcage, broadside shots tight to shoulder. Tuning is huge when it comes to penetration the arrow has to be directly behind the point to transfer energy efficiently. You know what they say 'any head will kill if properly placed' it's a true statement

How heavy of an arrow do you use?

414 grain gold tip pierce platinum shafts so not really heavy, I was still shooting my early season draw weight of 65 lbs so not high poundage either. I feel like these small diameter shafts now days are the way to go for hunting arrows. I don't know the science of it but they just seem to hit harder
