I have only shot 3 different broadheads through deer. First I ever used were NAP thunderheads. They were simple, lost one deer with them and killed my first bow buck with them. Then I bought into the rage hype, killed two bucks with them. One through the heart and one in the upper lungs. Was scared away by them when my dad lost two bucks in one year with them. Wasn't shooting enough KE and I'm sure shot placement wasn't the best. My last 3 bucks have been shot with rocket steelheads. They are deadly accurate and penetrate like crazy. Will be giving the hypodermics a try next year when I get a new bow.

i have shot a lot of different heads over the years. i used to shoot some pretty light setups years ago and a few times i wasn't really thrilled with penetration but almost always had an exit wound. after seeing several animals shot near perfectly and end up with very light blood trails the small fixed blade heads lost their attraction to me. i have been shooting rage almost exclusively since 2007. and can see me switching anytime soon, i would like to see them make their 3 blade head with a steel ferrule, until then looks like hypodermics in my quiver.
i'll have to admit any issues i ever had with penetration (i'm talking arrow sticking out on both sides but not a clean pass through) can be attributed to shooting too light of arrow. i used to run my 3D set up in the stand and always got away with it but with the new faster bows create enough speed with real hunting weight arrow to where i am now shooting 380grn arrow at 292fps and am pretty happy with the work they are doing.

Ive shot a few broadheads over the years. started out shooting cheap no name broadheads and relized if i want accuracy i had to spend $. well went to G5 B-52 Great arrow flight just not the cut i was looking for. Switched to muzzy 3 blades and LOVE them. I still recommend them to anyone. You have to get the ORGINAL 3 BLADES though.. not the MX series.. they have issued with being balanced right. then i tried the whole rage thing. Shot 3 deer in 1 year with them non opened up and lost 2 of the 3. only reason i got the 3rd was cause i shot her down the throat and it went stuck in her. even then i gutted her broadhead was not open. so went back to muzzys. then i tried the G5T3. Awesome Broadhead. huge blood trails that my 7yr old daughter can follow. they absolutely destroy animals.

I shot muzzys for years, killed alot of deer with them. Then decided to switch to slick tricks and shot them for a few yrs and then last year switched to the exodus and i really like this head, prolly shoot this for quite awhile. I dont have a bad thing to say about any of these heads, i wouldnt hestitate to use any of them. I just like to try to switch it up every now and then.

I've been using slick tricks for I don't know how many years now. When I first started hunting i used spitfires - killed my first deer with a spitfire. I had an experience with a doe one day that made me stop using them. She was perfectly broadside and the arrow entered in the 12 ring. When I looked at the arrow I was confused....it smelled like guts. Wth? Well, after a long track job, I got lucky and found her. Turns out the arrow did enter right where I thought it did, but it exited her opposite hind quarter! My guess is that it kicked sideways as it went thru a rib.
Then I went to rage. Killed two deer with em. Both times the head was damaged tho. I have been using tricks ever since. I like the sturdiness of a fixed head and havent had any issues with head damage and I can't remember the last time I didn't get a pass thru.

My go to bhs are he'll razors, just like the montecs, they can be re sharpened, punch through bone (wouldn't recommend shoulder), and they are pretty fail safe. I'll still keep a rage or two in my quiver.

I am a big SlickTrick fan. I've been shooting those exclusively for the past 5 years with zero complaints. They have been accurate without any worries about dependability. I only shoot about 63lbs with a 29" draw and that has produced complete passthroughs on 8/9 deer that I have shot over those 5 years. Those shots ranged from 8 yards out to 40 yards. The one non-passthrough hit the offside shoulder.
I will be honest though. The blood trail produced by many of those shots was fairly minimal due to shot angles. I can report that only 2 out of the past 9 deer shot did not go down within sight which obviously makes for easy tracking.

I have used Muzzy, Spitfire, Rage, and Meatseekers. Never had any problems with any of these heads and none of the deer went very far. I got a few Steelheads in the quiver I hope to try on a deer this late season.

I have used g5 montecs, slick tricks, blood runner, spitfires maxx, and killzones. I loved them all and really like shooting the killzones. I might give the killzone maxx a try next year.

I started out with muzzy 3 blades - Hard hitting head, liked the chisel tip but had some movement on longer range (25-30) shots Then shot mechanical with blade tip not sure of name but always destroyed after shot Next Muzzy MX-4 blade, really like this little head and still got 2 in quiver for yotes Last year went with Rocket Steelhead XLs, chisel tip with mechanical accuracy, just need to find a place that sells replacement blades
After watching a penetration test video online, I have decided to try out Rocket MeatSeeker 1.5". Blew the rest away even the steelhead
Wish Cabelas or somebody would mix about 10 different heads into a box and offer a test grab bag. Don't like paying $20-$40 for 3 heads just to have them suck
I shot my first two turkeys ever last year with Rocket Tom-O-Hawks, These things are awesome

Rocket Steelhead in the pump house put this buck down within 15 yards of hit.

looks like we have as many favorite broadheads as we have members. who can guess what that tells us?
